$1000 4K Cinema Camera in 2025? Sony FS7 Review

Today we are looking back at the sony PXW FS7. A professional camcorder XDcam released in 2014. But how good is it 11 years later? This is the older version of the FS7 mark ii. We will look at the fs7 mark 1 which doesn't have the variable ND filter. This is my FS7 in 2025 review.

We will look at build quality, microphone audio options, video quality, bitrates, codecs, autofocus performance, I will show a short video test with sample footage and more.

The FS7 is kind of like a big professional handycam. This video camera is netflix approved and is still a good camera for filmmaking, YouTube, music videos, and professional TV shows. It can shoot in 4k, but keep in mind that it doesn't record onto SD cards but on XQD cards. It also shoots in MXF instead of MP4. This is still a good cinema camera for beginners that are on a budget. I will show you the setup that I use with the built in simple shoulder mount, and talk about how good the super 35 sensor is.
