Police completely stopped traffic on the southbound lanes of I-880 in Oakland, California on June 20, 2024 for a shooting investigation. This resulted in gridlocked traffic for several miles. After lanesplitting to the front of the line, I eventually went the reverse direction - backwards up an onramp - to bypass the police blockade and continue my route. Not sure how long the folks in cars remained stuck on the freeway.
