Water is important to Kentucky's bourbon industry because of an abundance of limestone in the Bluegrass State, which acts as a filter giving Kentucky's native spirit its unique flavor. Protecting water, and the environment around it, is critical to the bourbon industry, and that's why the James B. Beam Institute for Kentucky Spirits, and the Kentucky Water Resources Research Institute, are collaborating with Beam Suntory to boost its global initiative for water sustainability.
The College of Agriculture, Food and Environment serves the people of Kentucky and the world, through unparalleled teaching, transformative research and relevant service to farms, families and communities.
