The Federal Government has confirmed that your NIN will now be used for tax under the new tax system. This means NIN will serve as your Tax Identification Number for individuals.
You will no longer need a separate tax ID. Once the new tax law fully starts, your NIN becomes the main number used to track tax records.
The government says this change is to make tax collection easier, stop multiple registrations, and reduce tax evasion. It also says no automatic bank deduction will happen and accounts will not be frozen just because of NIN.
