Lesson Objectives: To be able to explain and use the formula F= BILsin(θ)
Description: In this video I explain what happens to a current carrying wire which has been placed within a magnetic field. When current flows through the wire, a magnetic field is induced around the wire which interacts with the permanent magnetic field. The two fields interact causing a force to be experienced. The magnitude of the force can be calculated via the formula F= BILsin(θ). Look carefully at what θ represents, the angle between the wire and the magnetic field.
