Pardon some of my soapbox moments, but what I hope you take away from my ramblings tonight is that we are still a long ways out from the potential snow this weekend. Long-range forecasting is difficult, and long-range modeling is usually prone to extreme errors. It is nonsensical to believe the model data pushing double-digit snow totals in Memphis. Sure, it's happened a handful of times since 1875, but it is extremely unlikely.
There will be an impact from wintry precipitation this weekend, with the compounding impact of the deep cold air that will keep us below freezing for two or three days. Be patient, we will have a more refined forecast of snow totals in the coming days.
