IS MATHS COMPULSORY FOR ALL STUDENTS IN XI & XII?

Hey you all!!
CBSE has released a circular mentioning about introduction of APPLIED MATHEMATICS (241) as an Elective Subject (main Subject) at Senior Secondary (XI and XII) level.
This new course has been designed to enable those students who took Basic Maths in class X in the session 2019-20, in taking Maths at Senior Secondary level from 2020-21 as a Main Subject.
In its Circular CBSE says, "The present Mathematics (041) course was more inclined to Science subjects, and less beneficial for Commerce and Humanities students. That's why those who want to study Business, Economics, Social Sciences etc. at university level don't find current Maths beneficial for them. Therefore Applied Mathematics (241) has been introduced to help them in their future career prospects."
Keep in mind that if a student had chosen Standard Maths in class X in 2019-20, then he may choose either Applied Mathematics (241) or Standard Mathematics (041) in class XI in 2020-21. But if a student had taken Basic Maths in class X in 2019-20, then he will be eligible to take only Applied Mathematics (241) in class XI in 2020-21. It's a welcome move for students, and will help them in longer run.
