Hi, I’m Anil. I’m a software engineer, a Pahadi, a long-distance hiker and cyclist by choice, and someone who likes to explore life from different angles. I prefer quiet routes, long walks, and journeys that are not rushed or overplanned.
This video documents a DIY endurance hike in the upper reaches of Chamoli, Uttarakhand. What was planned as a hike to Monal Top slowly extended further to Jatropani, Khamila Top, and finally Godoli Bugyal.
We started from Wan village on 31st December and finished on 1st January. The route climbs from around 8,000 ft to nearly 13,500 ft, covering about 28.5 km across rough terrain, broken trails, and open ridges.
This is a real, self-supported mountain walk, not a packaged trek.
📍 ROUTE & DETAILS
Start: Wan village, Chamoli, Uttarakhand
Monal Top: ~11,000 ft
Jatropani: ~13,100 ft
Khamila Top: ~13,500 ft
Godoli Bugyal
Distance: ~28.5 km
Style: DIY, self-supported
Duration: We did this in about 1.5 to 2 days. With this distance, altitude gain, and terrain, it is generally a longer and demanding hike.
