The RX-8 is the successor of the previous gen RX-7, first introduced in 2003, right after the RX-7 stopped production, The RX-8 recipe was almost perfect, it has a turbocharged rotary engine, sporty driving mechanics, and also lightweight, just like the RX-7, but even though the RX-8 has a newer and revised turbocharged 2 rotor engine in it, even in its most powerful configuration, which is the Spirit R, it on produces 232HP, that's even lower than the base model FD RX-7 it replaces. To add to that, demands for a more efficient engines means that the rotary engine inside the RX-8 is going against the current, even its claimed average fuel consumption is only 24.6 UK mpg (11.5 L/100KM), that's pretty bad for an engine making only 232HP. After failing to meet Europe's emission regulation, the RX-8 ended production in 2010, and soon after Mazda stop producing the RX-8 in 2012.
