Flashback to January playing my first concert of the year with my brilliant friends introducing Chinese music to a UK audience.

This piece was inspired by memories of my life in Beijing and sounds heard over courtyard walls on summer strolls through the city’s labyrinthine alleyways.

Featuring two Chinese stringed instruments: the three stringed banjo-like Sanxian 三弦 by Mike Skelton and the four stringed lute Ruan 中阮 played by Charlie Cawood. Additional percussion from Carl Smith and cello from Kate Shortt.
