This dive took place at Wildlife Reef, our second dive of Day 2 (Dive 4 overall) during the Cayman 2025 trip.
Wildlife Reef offered a brighter, more colorful contrast to the earlier dive at Eagles Nest, with lively reef activity and relaxed pacing. The dive began with a memorable encounter as a sea turtle swam in close and lingered with us for a short time before continuing on its way.
Throughout the dive, we encountered a wide range of marine life, including a French angelfish, tiger grouper, barracuda, and a school of yellowtail snapper moving across the reef. One unique moment occurred when a jellyfish briefly appeared pink only when illuminated by my flashlight, matching the color of my mom’s mask as both appeared in the same frame.
Additional sightings included pufferfish, scrawled filefish, whitespotted filefish, a shy hamlet, and a hidden queen angelfish, along with vibrant sponges and coral throughout the site.
This video is part of a chronological dive journal, documenting each site as we explored it.
🔜 Up next in the Cayman 2025 dive series: Day 3 – Slaughterhouse Wall, featuring dramatic depth, vertical drop-offs, and classic wall diving.
