The Kuala Lumpur Deer Park is located inside Taman Botani Perdana (Perdana Botanical Gardens). The botanical garden was formerly known as Taman Tasik Perdana or Lake Gardens. As a teenager, this was my playground when the weekends and school holidays were all about walking, hiking, and exploring the gardens.
Sad to say that the park isn't what it used to be. The deers were all in the paddock when I visited. They used to be free-roaming, and visitors were allowed to pet and feed them. Although the deers are viewable from far, they are sleeping and hardly doing anything most of the time. So if you’re an animal lover, be prepared to be disappointed if you expect a close-up view.
The mousedeers are no longer there as well. Instead, the enclosures used to keep them are now taken up by junglefowl.
