राजस्थान की राजनीति में कांग्रेस के कद्दावर नेता सचिन पायलट ने पहला राजनीतिक भाषण यहीं दिया था।
कभी सचिन पायलट की मां श्रीमती रमा पायलट की राजनीतिक एंट्री का माध्यम रही यह सीट गुर्जर बहुल है। यहां सचिन पायलट का आज भी खासा प्रभाव है। कभी पायलट की टीम में रहे अशोक चांदना अब मुख्यमंत्री अशोक गहलोत के खास हैं और फिलहाल यहां से कांग्रेस के टिकट पर दो बार से यहां विधायक हैं और गहलोत सरकार के मंत्री भी हैं।

हाड़ौती की यह सीट मेवाड़, ढूंढाड़ के साथ—साथ अजमेर और टोंक जिले से भी छूती है। 184 नम्बर की यह सामान्य सीट देवली उनियारा, बूंदी, मांडलगढ़, केशोरायपाटन, जहाजपुर विधानसभा सीटों से सीमाएं साझा करती है। इनमें देवली उनियारा को छोड़कर सभी सीटें बीजेपी के कब्जे में है। वैसे तो यह बूंदी जिले का हिस्सा है, लेकिन लोकसभा के लिहाज से भीलवाड़ा लोकसभा सीट के अंतर्गत आती है। बीजेपी के सुभाष बहेड़िया यहां से सांसद हैं।
