When McLean Stevenson left M*A*S*H, I understood why they choose to give the character of Henry Blake an unhappy ending. They thought it was necessary to highlight the cruelties of war. But to this day, it still sucks to know the fate of that character when watching the reruns. So with the help of some additional footage from Cher’s CBS variety show back in 1975, Henry Blake now gets a happier send-off.
