Hello & Welcome to this special milestone video of Harnetty Railways
Coming up in the 775th video.
We travel on board The North Wales Coast Express the 1st public run of Saphos trains since Locomotive Services Ltd gained their train operating licence back in the summer of 2017.
Please note during the on board filming that these film shots were taken safely with just the camcorder on the outside ONLY.
Also I would like to apologies for the filming sequences at Crewe as it was effected due to the overhead wires.
The locomotive hauling the very 1st public run The North Wales Coast Express from Crewe to Holyhead & back was Jeremy Hosking's ex LMS Royal Scot 46100 Royal Scot.
We start this special video with the preview run a week before the Holyhead run at Rhyl as we see 46100 Royal Scot pass by on the down fast on a private charter from Crewe to Llandudno & back.
Then a week later on April the 14th came the big day. The North Wales Coast Express on the full length of the North Wales Coast from Crewe to Holyhead & back.
We start the big day at Crewe as we have a gd close up look of 46100 before setting off.
Note on the funny side of things The Royal Scot headboard which was 1 of the LMS's best known trains in steam days from Euston to Glasgow via Shap & Beattock on this day invaded the north wales coast.
Soon it was time to go as we departed for Holyhead. Not much filming was done on the outward leg as I was right at the back of the train.
After a gd run we arrived at Llandudno Junction for the Scot to take on water before progressing to Bangor & our destination Holyhead.
We had a few hours here while 46100 headed off to Valley to turn on the triangle.
Unfortunately we were delayed leaving Holyhead for the trip back to Crewe due to a circuit system failure & low water pressure while the loco took on water.
Soon it was time to go after a 25 min delay we were finally on the move for home almost straight away the start of the 1 in 75 grade heading out of Holyhead.
After a few signal checks we got to Bangor & these next bits in between the water stop at Llandudno junction 46100 Royal Scot was really on it in an effort to make up for lost time as the best as she could with the 10 coach load & a 47 diesel at the rear.
After a magnificent run we arrive at Chester the last passenger drop off before the finish line at Crewe.
Soon we arrive at Journey's end at Crewe.
We end this special video with 46100 departing with the empty stock back to Crewe H.S depot.
What an experience a fantastic day out & on record I can tick off a new mainline steam loco for haulage & as well on the runs to Holyhead i've now covered haulage's behind the sole remaining scots in preservation the other being David Smith's ex LMS Royal Scot 46115 Scots Guardsman back in August 2015.
A big thanks to everyone at Locomotive Services Ltd & Saphos Trains for putting on a great trip on their 1st public run.
Thanks for reading enjoy the 775th video of Harnetty Railways
