David Sanger, Percy Whitlock, George Thalben-Ball: Organ Recital from Leeds Minster (David Houlder)

A warm welcome to the eighth of our Online Organ Recitals for the Autumn Term!

We will be sharing an organ recital each Friday throughout the term, with a wonderful variety of music played by the Minster's regular recitalists Alexander Woodrow, David Houlder and Christopher Newton - and, on Friday 20th November, by one of our Organ Scholars, William Campbell. We hope you enjoy these performances and look forward perhaps to welcoming you in person to a live recital at Leeds Minster in 2021!

Today's performance is by our Sub-Organist, David Houlder, featuring English music by David Sanger, Percy Whitlock and Sir George Thalben-Ball.

We apologise for the appearance of a mobile phone ringtone towards the end of the second piece and also at the beginning of the Thalben-Ball 'Tune in E'. This device was left behind by a member of the Minster community by accident and lay quite undiscovered until David was in the process of recording. As it sounds not unlike a gentle Cymbalstern, we resolved to let it be, rather than put David through the motions of another virtual recording...!
