An introduction to 'absolute value' of a number as the distance from zero, as well as using a piecewise definition. Also included are several examples of simplifying absolute value expressions.
Corresponds to chapter 7, section 7.1 in McGraw-Hill's Pre-Calculus 11, but also fits with the absolute value functions unit from almost any other Pre-Calculus course or textbook.
