Hey, in this video I‘m going to show you, how to repair a broken CD player. The CD player is showing an error message, that there‘s no disc inside, altough, there is one. This is a very famous problem, I often have to repair, which is very very easy to fix even for a person not knowing anything about electronics. You just have to clean the Lens of the CD player or CD changer with a Q-Tip and alcohol. When CD players are old, in their lifetime a lot of dust came in and anytime, there is so much dust on the lens, the CD player can‘t operate anymore. In this video, I‘m going to show you, how to open the CD player and clean the lens so, that it will work for at least serveral years. The CD player in this video is actually a CD changer by Yamaha, which is 15 years old. It‘s the Yamaha CDC-585.
If this method doens't work with your CD player, you should try and spray a little bit of WD-40 on the gears of the laser pickup machanism. If the CD player hasn't been used for a long time, it's often the case, the laser can't move properly. After that, you can move it manually a little bit with your finger. NEVER TOUCH THE LENS! while doing that.
Electronics are dangerous and I'm not liable for you breaking anything or hurting yourself. Repair on your own risk. Make shure everytime, you touch anything inside, the device is not plugged in. But even, if it hasn't been plugged in for a long time, in some devices there can be very high currents.
Thanks for watching!
