On day 4 we started our hike before dawn, at 3:45, to give us enough time to get to the Bloukrans River crossing at low tide. The first 10 kms up to Bloukrans River alternates between the coastline and the indigenous forest. Everything went well and we were making good time until the 6 km mark where we got a little off track or should I say off trail. Luckily we found the correct path after retracing our steps and were still able to make it to Bloukrans River crossing before high tide. Our low tide was around 10:30 and it was also spring tide, meaning we could walk across the river without any risk of our bags getting wet. After crossing the river it's time to start climbing the rocks to continue on the trail. This part might be a bit scary to some who are afraid of heights. From here the trail climbs steeply to the coastal plateau, where there are the most amazing views over the coastline. The trail then descends steeply to André Hut, which nestles in the indigenous forest alongside the Klip River.
