On July 31st of this year former President and COO of Sega Games Co Ltd, Kenji Matsubara, suddenly quit for unspecified “personal reasons”. Why did he leave and what does this mean for the future of the SEGA brand? What does it mean for SEGA Sammy? Was he asked to leave? Was he fed up with the failure of SEGA to thrive in recent years?
And what’s become of the SEGA brand itself? Is SEGA even really a thing anymore, since it was acquired by the Sammy Corporation in 2003? Or is it just an empty brand label being used to sell mediocre (and sometimes great) games to people who still think that the name really means what it once did?
All this, and MORE, can be found in this video.

The best online source for all of this, however, is SegaSammy’s corporate website. It’s there that they very carefully and very publicly document all of their internal changes, plans, or developments. Without their data this video would not have been possible.
