I put my air fryer to the steak test for the first time—and WOW. Crispy crust, tender inside, and perfect medium-rare in just 12 minutes. Here’s exactly how I did it so you can nail it too.
What I used:
2 ribeye steaks
Seasoning: either steak & brisket rub OR 1 tsp salt + 1 tsp garlic powder + 1/2 tsp black pepper
1–2 tsp neutral oil
Nonstick cooking spray
2 tbsp unsalted butter
Cauliflower rice to serve
How I cooked it:
Let steaks sit 30 minutes to come to room temp. Pat dry.
Lightly oil, then season both sides.
Preheat air fryer to 400°F and spray the basket.
Cook 12 minutes total, flipping at 6 minutes. I pulled at 130°F for medium-rare—then topped with 2 tbsp butter and rested under foil 5 minutes (carryover brought it to about 135°F).
Serve over cauliflower rice.
Doneness guide (final temps):
Rare: 125°F
Medium-rare: 135°F
Medium: 145°F
Medium-well: 155°F
Well-done: 160°F Tip: Pull 5°F earlier and let it rest to hit your target.
