Teaching poetry writing to 2nd graders might seem really hard at first. Many of us teachers don’t consider ourselves to be poet!! But if you keep it simple, you can make poetry writing fun and easy for your students AND for yourself!
In this video, I explain how to kick off a poetry writing unit for second grade, and I give you some examples of simple poetry writing activities you can try right away. Your students will love writing descriptive poems about topics that are important to them - and they’ll get some great practice with adjectives!
