Watch this to Prevent a Costly Quick Attach Repair

Front end loader quick attaches are awesome tools. You can take your bucket off the tractor by raising two levers (one on some tractors) and curling out then you can put on pallet forks, a bale spike, a grapple, etc., then lock everything down by reversing the process. Most newer small tractors (except Deere, they had to be different and have their own system) use the skid loader-compatible quick attach systems. That means anything that will fit a skid loader will fit your tractor. It's a great system, as long as the two plates that are on the front of the loader fully extend into the female bracket that's on the attachment. Problem is, sometimes they don't.

If you're new to tractors, or, like I was, you're in a hurry, it's possible to get your attachment on the front end loader, but it's not really ON, and occasionally the levers that move the pins don't get seated. What usually happens is one side is on with the pin in the correct place, the other side, well, the pin is outside of the bracket, so basically your attachment is half on and half off. So, it you put it under load, something has to give and many times the front plate on the loader gets tweaked and that's an expensive fix.

You'll probably understand this a little better when you watch the video, it's one of those situations that's hard to explain. I always make sure the plates are totally flush with the bracket on the attachment, and after I've pushed the levers down I tilt the bucket so I can see if everything looks right. A little time spent while hooking up will insure that everything is seated properly and you're ready to go to work safely.
