hey guys! so originally I just pinned a comment with an explanation, but I ultimately decided to cut out the few seconds at the beginning of the vid where I mentioned not reading the book yet bc my friend had told me it was based on a social network rpf royalty au & I was waiting until I could get andrew garfield out of my head before reading it - I was unaware this was an unfounded rumor & I very, very much so was not intending to spread any misinformation by sharing that, so I edited it out of the intro. I’m so sorry for any confusion!!! (& thank you to everyone who commented & cleared it up!) (on the bright side, after watching the film, andrew garfield is def out of my head now & I won’t be thinking of him when I do eventually read the book )

also to those thinking I’m insulting red white & royal blue by calling it fanfic-y in parts, I promise my brain sees it more like "fanfiction (affectionate)" in the best way possible - I literally write (& read) fanfic & openly admit that; I love the fanfic community so much & would never in a million years harbor any ill-will or degradation toward it!! I really was just joking about the lines like “your royal hardness” bc that level of cheese is just on another level for me, personally - but for every ‘sweat drop down my balls’ contemporary reference, we get a ~swoon-worthy perfect moment~ like the “when they write the history of my life, I want it to include you” museum dance !!!! so I wouldn’t trade any of the cheese for the world lol

(i also just saw that casey mcquiston in a recent interview with polygon said they find the fanfiction comparison a compliment, and said “fanfiction is pure pleasure reading. it’s here to be fun… it’s just pure love.” which captures my feelings perfectly! i know some people are upset I ‘put it in the same basket as the after series’ but there are loads of amazing fics out there by incredibly, incredibly talented writers, and I can assure you when I was saying things like “this is so fanfic-y, and I love it”, I was thinking of the best fics I’ve read, not the after series (which I haven’t actually read or seen 💀) but at this point I feel like those who get it, get it 😅 I just hope that those who don’t will read casey’s own thoughts on it & realize that fanfic is not this evil, awful entity :/ anyways, sorry for this being so randomly long, lol, but thanks for reading if you sat through the whole thing!)
