Cold water, Big specs
Captain Skippy and I hit the water on one of the coldest days of the season, targeting deep water speckled trout. The bite was slow, the conditions were tough, and nothing came easy.
We spent the entire day making adjustments — changing lures, switching jig head sizes, and varying our retrieve until we finally cracked the pattern. Those small changes made all the difference, and by sticking with it, we were able to land a full limit of large speckled trout.
We also caught and released a big black drum, adding to an already memorable cold-weather fishing trip. This is a great example of how persistence and adapting to conditions can turn a tough winter bite into a successful day on the water.
