A talk given by Dr Ann Bonell to the Herefordshire Astronomical Society on the 2nd June 2022.
Ann Bonell is the President of Leicester Astronomical society. She is interested in all aspects of astronomy but especially its history and some of the fascinating figures that have contributed to it.
Her talk describes some early observations of the Red Planet and then concentrates on the life of Percival Lowell and his tireless fervour for the canals of Mars.
