Goodbye, Violet & Okie Dokie | Love & Loss on the Farm

Life on the farm is filled with joy, growth, and beauty… but sometimes it brings heartbreak too.

I want to share the realities of life on the farm, and part of that means being open about loss. Many of you in this supportive community came to know our sweet Lavender Orpington hen, Violet, and I wanted to let you know that she passed away peacefully in her sleep. 💜

At the same time, our family also said goodbye to our shy and gentle boy, Okie Dokie. He was rescued as a kitten alongside over 140 other cats, and though he was often reclusive, those who knew him loved him dearly. In his braver moments, he was the sweetest, drooliest cuddler. When he suddenly showed signs of severe illness, I rushed him to the animal hospital. Despite the veterinary team’s best efforts, we had to make the difficult but loving decision to end his suffering. 🖤

This video is my way of honouring them — sharing their stories, their sweetness, and the love they gave.

Thank you for being here with me through both the joys and the sorrows of farm life. Your support means so much to us. 💛
