Highlights of the 2025 Comrades Marathon. The 98th Comrades Marathon.

Point of view from a middle-of-the-pack runner.

I started in Group 1, H Batch.
I passed the half-way mark in Drummond in 5 hours 10 minutes.
I completed the race for my Bronze Medal in 10 hours and 36 minutes.

This is my 16th Comrades Medal and my 2nd fastest Comrades Marathon.

The official distance for the 2025 Comrades Marathon was calculated at 89.98km. My GPS watch measured 91.04km, but the extra distance will be: 1) I started near the back of group 1; 2) I zigged-zagged a bit and did not take the shortest possible route all the time

The weather on the day: Mild at the start, cool at the bottom of Polly Shortts. Then it got warmer. From Kloof is started to cool down again. At the finish area it became a bit chilly.

My 10km split times:
80km to go: 01hr17
70km to go: 02hr25
60km to go: 03hr30
50km to go: 04hr38
40km to go: 05hr49
30km to go: 07hr04
20km to go: 08hr10
10km to go: 09hr24
Finish: 10hr36
