I started out the day with plans to metal detect a Civil War camp, but was stopped cold by a crop of Sudan about a foot tall over the entire site. My next plan was to do some ridge walking on the other part of the permission that I had never visited. After driving up a high ridge and then walking about a mile, the heat almost got to me not to mention my aching feet.
I regrouped and visited a cellar hole I had found last winter. It is so saturated that it's nearly impossible to hunt, but I gave it a try. When I first arrived, I was checked out by a huge Black Angus Bull that let me know that I was on his turf. Needless to say, I kept my guard up and didn't detect very long.
This site really holds a lot of potential, but it was just too hot and I wasn't really in the mood to sift through all the aluminum trash. After a couple of finds, I gave up and went home for the day. I'll return when the Sudan has been cut or eaten.
Thanks for watching.
