Coal follows on from Nuclear in this influential suite. I wrote the music for and about my mum while she was battling cancer. I feel both compositions reflect the many emotions associated with the joy of her life and her slow decline to death. Although she didn't live to see it performed by such an incredible orchestra, I know she would have been very proud that it was.
