Here’s stained glass like you've never seen before! David Simmons took up where Tiffany left off. Dave is one of the innovative artists in the renaissance of leaded glass. You don’t look at it. You look through his art. Dave runs Jennifer’s Glassworks in Atlanta, Georgia. Jennifer is Dave’s daughter. Stained glass began in the church where the combination of music and the light created an atmosphere of worship. He took it out of the church and into homes and businesses. New designs and colors … lots and lots of colors. Each piece might contain hundreds of individual pieces of glass that are cut, soldered together with lead and then fused together. Then it’s stained glass art.
To Dave his art is alive. It’s artistry, design and emotion. He told me that stained glass makes people feel. It doesn’t matter if it’s custom decorative front doors or beautiful stained-glass windows … there’s an instant human reaction. Dave Simmons paints with light. This story aired on WSB-TV Channel 2 Action News in 1976.
FYI - Jennifer’s Glassworks has been serving Atlanta and the Southeastern for over 50 years. If you like what they did in 1976 you’ll be amazed by what they can do now. (Shameless plug.)
