The Maserati Quattroporte was introduced in 1963 as the world’s first luxury sports sedan. Equipped with a motor racing-derived V8 quad cam 4. 2lt 260 bhp engine and 5-speed ZF gearbox, it was capable of reaching 100kmh in under 8 sec and a top speed of 230 km/ h. The body was build by Carrozzeria Vignale under Pietro Frua's design which shared marque elegance with A6G, 5000 GT 'Shah of Persia' and Mistral.
In 1966 the Quattroporte received numerous upgrades including a quad lamp visage, a revised sprung supported Salisbury rear axle, a lustrous wooden trimmed interior, electric windows and a climate control system. Of the 436 units made, most were dispatched to select clients including Anthony Quinn, Marcello Mastroianni and Rainier III Prince of Monaco.
Chassis 107. 1276 was produced in 1968 in most sophisticated Grigio Ferro Metallizzato with Marrone. The 4. 2 lt engine was coupled to a 5-speed ZF manual gearbox. After numerous years in Milano and Piemonte, it was relocated to London, to soon be acquired by a private collector and current owner. In 2018, the exterior received a new coat of the original factory-coded paint, the interior was professionally preserved and the engine was fully prepared for extensive use. It is now offered UK-registered and FIVA-authenticated for any private or Maserati heritage event.
