Feng was touched by the stories about artisanal craftsmanship of her grandmother's generation and started to explore the traditions, values, and meaning behind them.
We visited various regions in China to find a workshop that continues this traditional Chinese natural resist dye technique – a plant-based starch resist dye mixing soya paste, lime chalk, and a natural indigo dye called ‘Dian Qing Ran’ which is extracted from locally-grown plants, and found a local community that continued this technique.
Selected garments from our Spring Summer 20 and upcoming Spring Summer 21 collection incorporate this traditional technique to continue its tradition, values, and stories in our contemporary context, as well as for the future generations to come.
