What do you do for your pets when they are stressed? Do you administer Trazodone for stress-related behaviors? If so, Dr. Judy recommends regular bloodwork to check for elevated ALT levels which could be a sign of liver failure. In this session, Dr. Judy shares a case study of a dog who was given Trazodone to calm its stress levels down after an episode of raisin ingestion. Over the course of several weeks, this dog's ALT levels continued to climb until it was taken off this particular drug. The case study, written for veterinarians, advises that when using this drug routine lab work is recommended to monitor liver enzymes.
