Summer whitetail inventory methods require precise trail cam placement. You want usable intel without being flooded with imagery, which will cause batteries to drain.
Jeff Sturgis, a whitetail hunting expert, positions his REVEAL trail cams near mock scrapes and away from feeding areas. This helps attract bucks but cuts down on how many images are sent. To conserve battery power while still getting images, Sturgis likes to adjust his settings to hybrid mode, with one picture and one 10-second video, and uses the option to request full HD images when needed. He uses a mounting bracket for precise aiming and places the camera about 6 feet off the ground, where deer are unlikely to notice it.
