AUTUMN COLORS in wind-swept KALDOAIVI wilderness[2021][4K]

This is a cinematic hike video from the largest wilderness area in Finland, Kaldoaivi wilderness.

As the winter is approaching, cold winds sweep the rolling hilltops which have no tree cover. Terrain is moderately difficult and wet to walk, with just a few man-made trails to follow. The flipside of this is that you can walk in Kaldoaivi for days without seeing other people.

I hiked through the wilderness area in early September, from the west to the north-eastern corner where Nuorgam, a small town at the border between Finland and Norway is located.

Weather was challenging, with almost-freezing nights, high winds and occasional rain, and Aurora Borealis light shows on several evenings. The autumn colors were starting to peak, which made for dramatic views towards the river valleys filled with yellow birch trees. I even saw the launch of a Soyuz rocket carrying a satellite from nearby Russian platform!
