Andrea Kimi Antonelli Testing the 2022 Mercedes-AMG F1 W13 at Imola Circuit - April 29, 2024

The very young Italian driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli took to the track again aboard a Mercedes-AMG F1 for some private tests at the Imola circuit. This time, the car used is the 2022 W13; it is, therefore, a new generation model more focused on ground effect and equipped with 18-inch tyres, just like the cars used in the latest F1 championships. Therefore, These tests are even closer in driving and sensations to the 2024 competing single-seater. It should be remembered that a couple of weeks ago, Antonelli had already had the opportunity to test another Mercedes single-seater, the 2021 W12 model, in Austria at the Red Bull Ring on wet asphalt. At the behest of Toto Wolf, the young driver from Bologna could feel the differences between the two cars, which have changed profoundly due to the new regulations. Antonelli is currently 17 years old and will be of age in August. He cannot make his Formula 1 debut early unless an exemption is requested. There are rumours of Williams as a possible arrival given his first season in the top series, hoping for him and us in a subsequent future at the wheel of the official Mercedes-AMG F1. However, not to rush the times seems to be the widespread opinion within the Mercedes F1 organisation. Andrea Kimi is currently competing in the fierce F2 championship with the Prema Racing team, doing well. Enjoy! 😉

Il giovanissimo pilota italiano Andrea Kimi Antonelli è sceso nuovamente in pista a bordo di una Mercedes-AMG di F1 per dei test privati sul circuito di Imola. Questa volta la vettura impiegata è la W13 del 2022, si tratta quindi di un modello di nuova generazione maggiormente improntato all'effetto suolo ed equipaggiato con pneumatici da 18 pollici, proprio come le auto impiegate negli ultimi campionati di F1. Questi test sono dunque ancora più vicini nella guida e nelle sensazioni alla monoposto 2024 attualmente in gara. Da ricordare che Antonelli un paio di settimane addietro aveva già avuto modo di testare un'altra monoposto Mercedes, il modello W12 del 2021 in Austria al Red Bull Ring su asfalto bagnato. Il giovane pilota bolognese, per volere di Toto Wolf, ha quindi potuto sentire le differenze fra due vetture che sono cambiate profondamente per via dei nuovi regolamenti. Attualmente Antonelli ha 17 anni, compirà la maggiore età ad Agosto. Non credo possa debuttare anticipatamente in Formula 1 a meno che non venga chiesta una deroga. Si vocifera di Williams come possibile approdo in vista della sua prima stagione nella massima serie, sperando per lui e per noi, in un successivo futuro al volante della Mercedes-AMG F1 ufficiale. Ma non affrattare i tempi sembra l'opinione diffusa all'interno dell'organizzazione Mercedes F1. Attualmente Andrea Kimi sta disputando l'agguerrito campionato di F2 con il team Prema Racing ben figurando. Buona visione! 😉
