I’ve fallen in love with the look of the Joe Composites front splitter on the OEM front bumper for the Cayman 987.1 and figured I’d throw a short video together explaining how I installed the splitter! Let me know if this was helpful!
Here's the installation steps from Joe Toth Composites;
Cayman 987 sectional splitter install
Attach the three sections of splitter using the 8/32 x ½ screws and nuts
Remove the factory plastic corner pieces off the bumper.
Three expanding plastic push pins under the bumper on each side of the bumper. The push pins will be used to install the sectional splitter.
Install the sectional splitter in the same location as the removed plastic sections from the bumper.
I am recommending fastening the center portion of the splitter to the bumper. My one piece splitters do not require this.
In the center section of the splitter there are three predrilled holes. Using a small (3/16”) drill bit drill
through the bottom of the bumper.
Remove the splitter and drill out the three holes to 3/8”
Insert the rubber well nuts into the holes.
Install the splitter again to factory location.
Screw the 10/32 x 1 with washer through the splitter into the well nuts.
Insert the 6 plastic push pins removed earlier through the tabs on the bottom of the new splitter.
Do not remove the backing from the two sided tape until you are ready for the final install. Peel
back one side a couple of inches and fold it over so it sticks out the front of the bumper/splitter.
Your rip cord. When the splitter is in place pull the end to remove. Now secure the well nuts if
you are using them.
