On October 26, 2025, the LCMS Pikes Peak Circuit sponsored a Reformation Hymn Festival at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Colorado Springs. The combined choir and congregation sang "Rejoice, O Pilgrim Throng," hymn #813 in the Lutheran Service Book. This hymn text dates from 1865 when it was written for a choral festival at Peterborough Cathedral in England. The original first phrase was "Rejoice, Ye Pure in Heart" but most American Lutheran hymnals have adopted this new text. This fine setting is by Carl Schalk, 1929-2021, long-time professor of music at Concordia University-Chicago. The original text is by Edward H. Plumptre, 1821-91. The choir is directed and accompanied by Dr. Donald Zimmermann.
