Diamond Dresser

In this video I make a single point diamond dresser for the bench grinder. This style of tool does an exceptional job dressing grinding wheels, and also does a very good job truing them up round. They also operate very smoothly and allow you to fine tune how much material you want to dress off the wheel - something traditional spur style dressers don't do. They also make sure the wheel is dressed square to the tool rest.

[0:24] Before we begin this is what we are building. A single point adjustable diamond dressing tool for a bench grinder. You can find drawings on my blog. I’m not sure how you dress your grinder, but I can assure you a single point tool beats frilly shirts and jeans any day of the week. And those spur type tools too.

[0:42] The main component of this design is this industrial diamond that I’ve modified to thread into a base that allows you to guide the tool across the wheel. It is exceptionally durable and does a great job of not only resurfacing the wheel but getting the wheel round in the first place.

[0:57] I had an entire script done up to narrate the project as we went but as I watched the final edit I realized that in this case the pictures told the story.
