• Closing thoughts:
o On wrist – Wears more like a 38-40mm, specs deceiving, has more modern and contemporary feel than the Turtle Reissue or Slim Turtle and presents as a deeper cut choice vs. those more mainstream models
Add to the formula this gorgeous, frosted texture dial and you have something that really speaks to the modern Seiko and Grand Seiko enthusiast
o Model variants – Various options released over the years, while new-stock has dwindled down, you still can find a few out there, and this is one of them
o Comparable models – When you consider the in-house nature of these at the $300 price point, there’s actually less comparable than you might think, as direct competitors from Orient and even Citizen will generally be cheaper and more abundant but less detailed by comparison
o Bottom-line – I’ve always loved the mini-turtle and felt that if they had been more popular, they could’ve been a worthy successor to the SKX, but I think the mainstream popularity of the Turtle Reissue ended up overshadowing this unique line of modern, yet distinctly Seiko divers
Good news for enthusiast though, while the mini turtle has become more popular since being discontinued, the prices are still very affordable (for the time being)
