Why are Hotels in India CRAZY EXPENSIVE!

Whereas in Pattaya or Phuket in Thailand, staying at a similar hotel will cost a traveller around Rs 5,000, the report says.
In Vietnam, the rates dropped further. Staying at a hotel in Da Nang, a coastal city in Vietnam, costs as low as Rs 3,500. So, what is it about hotels in India that makes them so expensive compared to some other similar experiences around the world?"
