Performed by a quintet of remarkable musicians, this set brings together Steve Davis and Warren Byrd, longtime collaborators since their days in the Explorers Quintet, an innovative and forward-thinking jazz collective active in the 1990s known for its dynamic compositions and notable recordings. Their musical reunion at Carmine’s blends deep roots with fresh energy.

Adding to the spirit of legacy and continuity, two young talents joined the ensemble:
Nick Davis (age 18), Steve Davis’s son on tenor saxophone, and Vinton Hines (age 20) on drums.

About Steve Davis:
One of the most respected jazz trombonists of his generation, Steve Davis was the final trombonist in Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers, a key figure in Jackie McLean’s ensembles, and has performed with legends including Chick Corea.

About Warren Byrd:
Warren Byrd is an internationally acclaimed pianist and vocalist from Hartford, Connecticut. His album Truth Raised Twice showcases his lyrical sensitivity and deep gospel-jazz roots. He tours worldwide, often in collaboration with his wife, trumpeter and multi-instrumentalist Saskia Laroo.

About Matt Dwonszyk:
Matt Dwonszyk is a bassist, composer, and bandleader based in New York. He has released two albums as a leader—Wonderful World and A Year and a Day—and has performed with Steve Davis, Harold Mabern, Jazzmeia Horn, and Eddie Henderson.
