So, another vocal range video for Citizen Queen, yay.
Nina has been on numerous famous acapella groups, such as SoCal VoCals, Flashback and most recently all-female acapella band Citizen Queen, in which she takes the role of the highest soprano. Which is not weird considering her very young, girly voice, to which Nina adds her forward placement on belts and light falsetto to make her signature sound.
LOWEST NOTE:
Eb3 on "Rose Challenge"
HIGHEST MIXED NOTE:
G#5 on "This Christmas", "Focus" and "Don't You Worry Bout a Thing"
HIGHEST NOTE:
D6 on "Attention"
Her lower register is quite average, showing development down to G3 but consistently only around A3. Her tendency to add a smokey tone to her chest voice has her pushing down her larynx at times or airing her lows too much, which reduces her overall consistent support on chest voice, but it clearly is a conscious stylistic choice. In the F#3-Eb3 area she loses connection and often uses her larynx to mantain tone.
Her mixed register is quite decent on the fourth octave, showing development up to Bb4/B4 and sometimes even C5, but beyond that she gets all kinds of tension on her voice, from high larynx to glotal tension. Thanks to her forward placement she maintains a good ease up to G#5.
Upper register is where Nina sounds the most comfortable. She chooses falsetto over head voice most of the time, and she's relaxed up to Eb5/E5ish. Up to F5 she has a very nice placement which brings out the lightness of her voice, taking advantage of her tone. Above that, there's high larynx all the way up to her highest note.
Moreover, she has great musicianship, since doing covers has been her main thing for years, and has clearly evolved for the better with time. She gives every song her signtaure touch and rarely falls into the karaoke curse. She also has a really good agility, something she makes use of most of the time while singing, as it is a strength of her.
I'm not strong enough to make a credit list lol but if you need any video please leave me a comment and I will link it to you!
