We walked the Broomway — Britain’s most dangerous footpath.
Linking the Essex coast to Foulness Island across deadly tidal sands, the Broomway has claimed over 100 lives. Rapid tides, thick mud, disorienting fog, and the threat of unexploded ordnance make this ancient path extremely risky. Once the only access to the island, this route now crosses a Ministry of Defence firing range and can only be walked when the range is inactive.

📅 When to go: Only with an experienced guide, during safe tidal conditions, and when the MOD range is closed.
