Welcome to my video of DX King Pyramider [キングピラミッダー] from Choriki Sentai Ohranger [超力戦隊オーレンジャー]!

While Kakuranger technically had more mecha, Ohranger is where it felt like they went overboard. How do you top three sets of Mecha, one stand-alone mecha, and one sentient helper mecha? Simple. Giant carrier(ish) mecha! King Pyramider was Kingranger's personal mecha and quite a sight to behold. It had been a number of years since there was a mecha that could house an entire other combiner mecha. So...it's massive, but is it just a fancy toy box?

King Pyramider comes with...well, nothing. The mid-90s was out of control with complex sticker sheets (see: Dairanger's Dairenoh, B-Fighter's Jukou Kichi) and yet King Pyramider has like four stickers total. Nice! King Pyramider has two other modes--Carrier Formation and Battle Formation.

At first glance, this toy might seem kinda plain. Well, it is if you had the misfortune of buying the US version (more on that later). When you take a closer look, you'll notice the intricate lines that absolutely cover this toy. Check out the photo at 3:28. Some serious talent went into giving this detail beyond what any of the other Ohranger mecha toys have. I will also say this...despite being a larger toy, Bandai used enough plastic to keep it from being flimsy. Thanks to this, the few critical moving parts operate smoothly. Solid toy!

While I like this one, I imagine some people are probably turned off by the design. It was larger designed using a ruler. This doesn't bother me, though. The only thing that does kinda bother me, and this is kinda a big problem, there really should have been a better solution for Red Puncher's hooks in Battle Formation. If you don't lift them up, Red Puncher won't be close enough. When you lift them...they're just kinda there...but Red Puncher is close enough. I opted to lift them for the closeness and the fact that the instruction sheet told me to do so. This could have been better...

You may be wondering how I can store so many large toys such a this one. What if I told you that I also have the Power Rangers Zeo version? Yeah, I own two of these massive things. This kind helps since I can tell you about the differences first hand (even though I haven't opened Pyramidas in forever). As usual, the US version uses some pretty terrible quality plastic in comparison. Not only that, but the gold is not nearly as vibrant as King Pyramider. This might have to do with the missing gold flecks in the plastic. This is one of those bonehead Bandai America choices that really probably doesn't cost extra, yet ends up being omitted. When Won Tiger became White Tigerzord, they left the flecks out of the plastic. It just looks bland without that little touch. Even the excellent Legacy Tigerzord doesn't have the flecks. The premium collector's edition of White Tigerzord is missing the flecks...WHY? It would've been damn near perfect if they took that tiny extra step...

The bottom line is this...shipping is probably steep, but I recommend seeking out King Pyramider instead of Pyramidas. If you're already considering King Pyramider...go for it only if you have Ohrangerrobo and Red Puncher. Owning a Ohrangerrobo is important since the Zeo Megazord is missing a ton of the chromed accents and gold chains..however the Red Battlezord will do fine since that is basically a direct copy of Red Puncher.
