This is Day 3, Stop 2 of our Belize adventure. We left the popular Xunantunich and made our way to the lesser-known Cahal Pech, one of the oldest and most fascinating Mayan sites in all of Belize. The name "Cahal Pech" translates to "Place of the Ticks," a name given by archaeologists in the 1950s when the land was used for pasture.
Unlike the vast open spaces of other ruins, Cahal Pech offers an intimate and intricate experience. The site was once a palatial home for an elite Maya family, and its residential-style layout gives you a unique sense of what daily life was like. With its maze of plazas, temples, and palaces, you can truly get lost in a world of your own.
The site is known for having a feeling of freedom to explore. There are numerous vaulted walkways, ancient courtyards, and narrow corridors to wander through, allowing you to walk in the footsteps of the people who once lived there.
Thanks for watching, and make sure to join us on our next adventure!
