James Stewart, known for his soft-spoken charm on screen, was a real-life warrior off it. He flew 20 combat missions over Nazi-occupied Europe as a bomber pilot and later became a Brigadier General in the U.S. Air Force Reserve.

Carole Lombard, though she didn’t live to see the war’s end, played a key role in rallying Americans to buy war bonds. She tragically died in a plane crash while returning from one such rally, becoming Hollywood’s first casualty of World War II.

Chuck Norris, a U.S. Air Force veteran stationed in South Korea, discovered martial arts during his military service — the very skill that made him a global icon in later years.
