Once a sanctuary of serenity, Tilstone House Spa stood as a jewel of neo-Tudor refinement in the Cheshire countryside. Built in 1888 by Lord Daresbury as a hunting lodge, its grandeur later gave way to a new identity — a luxury spa retreat where guests once wandered beneath timbered ceilings, soaking in tranquility amid manicured gardens and the soft hush of fountains.
But time, like ivy, crept in.
The spa closed its doors, and silence settled over the house. Fires in 2020 and again in 2025 left scars across its ornate façade. The once-pristine treatment rooms are now cloaked in soot and shadow. Chandeliers hang askew, their crystals dulled by ash. The scent of lavender oils has long faded, replaced by damp stone and charred wood.
In the overgrown garden, the dry fountain stands like a forgotten relic — a circular monument to stillness. Moonlight filters through broken windows, casting fractured light across peeling wallpaper and warped floorboards. The house, once a place of healing, now whispers of loss.
Yet even in decay, Tilstone House holds a strange beauty. Its bones remain proud. Plans for redevelopment stir, promising a new chapter. But for now, it waits — a haunted spa, suspended between memory and ruin.
