Well, and here we are. I began to ship Richard and Miranda during season 1 and I`m sure, showranners planned something for them, but then changed plans. Steinberg and Levine confirmed in interview, than they changed their plans many times and sometimes you can see very easily where such things happened. Billy and Abigail, I think, were one of those cases, but they became more or lesser popular. Sadly, I can`t say it about Richard and Miranda, but their dinamic in season 1 and partly in season 2 was very interesting. Two experienced, well-educated people, both are good in manipulation, each one in their own way. Richard with his prudence and Miranda with her hedonism and stoicism at the same time. Both, it seems, are far from be happy and lost their love ones many years ago. Also it`s interesting to see hints on something romantic between two far from young characters. They were very far from popular romantic cliche (unlike, again, Billy and Abigail, who were typical lady and pirate trope) and Richard never was popular character (sadly, but we are still in world where fandoms are very male characterы-centric, so popularity the het ship is more dependent on the male character), so I don`t surprise people usually just ignore it relationship. But they were interesting combination and I still mourn fact, they never had chance to become thing.
